Columbia City is a city in Columbia Township, Whitley County, in the United States. The city's gender composition was 47.6% male and 52.4% female. In the city, the population was dispersed, with 24.4% under the age of 18, 9.9% from 18 to 24, 29.1% from 25 to 44, 18.8% from 45 to 64 and 17.7% aged 65 and over. The median age was 36 years.

For every 100 females there were 89.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.8 males. The city has a lending library, the Peabody Public Library. Located in Whitley County, Columbia City, Indiana, it is 18 miles west of Fort Wayne, Indiana (center to center) and 102 miles north of Indianapolis, Indiana.

The city is considered part of the Fort Wayne metropolitan area. Columbia City residents celebrate the Mihsihkinaahkwa Powwow festival and Old Settler Day each year. While the climate is influenced to some extent by the nearby Great Lakes, it doesn't differ much from that of other Midwestern cities at the same latitude.
